Asif Basra, one of the highly talented actors in the Bollywood film industry, was found hanging at his residence in Dharamshala after what appeared to be a suicide.
The 53-year-old actor, who also performed impressive cameos in “Kai Po Che” and “Jab We Met”, was staying at the house for the last 5-6 years. His body was found on the first floor of the two-story house near McLeodganj in Upper Dharamshala.
Asif Basra was born in Maharashtra in 1967 and he had been involved in acting since his school days. In 1989, he moved to Mumbai and continued to act in college productions. One of his first major theatre appearances was as Horatio in 1991 in Salim Ghouse’s production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
He was a familiar face in Bollywood films for nearly two decades. The actor was recently seen in the web series “Paatal Lok” and “Hostages.”
Asif Basra has acted in a huge number of films including Black Friday, Parzania, Outsourced, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Krrish 3, Ek Villain, Kaalakaandi, and Hichki. He also appeared in several critically acclaimed plays including Feroz Khan’s Mahatma vs Gandhi, Manav Kaul’s Mumtaz Bhai Patangwale, and Vikram Kapadia’s Tuglak.
